Begin your journey to a loving commitment and legal union by following the few simple steps below:
Sign into Google, create your own copy of the Cohabitation Agreement, and enter your two names.
Share the Cohabitation Agreement with your partner, and start creating your vision of your future life together.
Thanks Google Docs! You make it super-easy for a couple to create their own Cohabitation Agreement. No emails or messy file attachments!
Google Docs keeps track of all your changes as you work together on your Agreement. So you can skip back at any time to see previous versions.
Later on as you work with financial and legal professionals you can share your Agreement with them, and they can make comments on its contents.
You will EACH need a Google Gmail account.
Don't already have one? Create one for free here.
Click here and the Cohab Money will open a new browser tab or window that takes you the Cohabitation Agreement.
But you won't be able to make your own copy of the Cohabitation Agreement unless you are signed into Google. Let's do that now.
Take a look at the top-right of the new browser tab or window that contains the Cohabitation Agreement. Can you see your name?
If so, you are already signed into Google. Skip ahead to Step 4.
If not, you will see a button named Sign in, click it, and then sign into Google in your usual way.
From the File menu, choose Make a copy to display the Copy Document dialog box.
Do not check the 'Also copy document collaborators' box.
Just click the OK button.
Well done! Now you have your very own copy of the Cohab Monkey's Cohabitation Agreement stored in your Google Docs account.
Google Docs names this document: Copy of CohabMonkey Cohabitation Agreement.
In the next step you'll give your copy of the Cohabitation Agreement a new name. Whatever name you give to it, you can always change it later.
Click on the title of Copy of CohabMonkey Cohabitation Agreement at the top of the document.
Google now opens the Rename Document dialog box.
Type the name you want to give to the Cohabitation Agreement, and then click OK.
That's it. Now you are ready to update the document's privacy settings and share it with your partner.
Before you share the Cohabitation Agreement, you might first want to change its privacy settings. Here's how.
At the top-right of the screen you can see a Share button. Click the arrow to its right. From the dropdown menu displayed click the Share option to display the Sharing settings dialog box.
Click the Change option, change the Visibility options from Public on the web to Private, and click Save.
Leave the Sharing Settings dialog box open on the screen. You will use it in your next and final step.
Every step you've taken so far has been leading up to this one.
Yep, it's time to share the Cohabitation Agreement with your partner.
Near the bottom of the Sharing settings dialog box you can see the option to Add people.
Type in your partner's Gmail address.
Next, click the option named Add message. Google opens a new box in which you can type a romantic message to your partner.
You might want to take a little time to get the words just right. Ask a friend to help you.
All done? Finally, click the Share & save button.
Google now sends the message to your partner and gives them access to the Cohabitation Agreement.
Yay! Now the two of you are ready to work together on your Cohabitation Agreement and create your shared vision of your future life.
